One Divided by Infinity
Seven billion drops falling through the same rain
I am nothing
but a single awareness
One among many
A drop
in the collective, churning ocean of others
whose waves
crash against my shores
and make up my whole world
Connected yet distinct
A part yet separate
A singular ripple
in the infinite current
that flows whether I move or not
How is it that something so infinitesimal
can hold so much—
can feel so much?
When I wake
the ocean wakes with me
As I close my eyes
the tides go still
Seven billion other drops
falling through the same rain
yet none of them taste the thunder
the way I do
One divided by infinity—
and somehow that equals everything
I am nothing
but in that lives something
that never was before
nor will ever be again
The whole world happens
inside this singular breath
that ends when I do
