My favorite thing was spending time with my grandpa in his shop! It’s where I learned how to build that desk that you are sitting at!

I have many memories of running into his shop while he was working on his next project and him helping me learn the trade.

Which is why I started building again. It all started with restoring his shuffleboard that he made in 1947. This shuffleboard now has had 4 generations of my family play on it and it sits in my house and my family & friends get to enjoy it!

Oh man, for this time of year, my favorite thing to do when I was a kid was playing hockey on a pond. I didn't get to experience ice hockey until I move to MA, so I was a 12 year old newbie. Our family moved to MA in November and on my first day of school at the bus stop, the kids asked if I played ice hockey. I replied with, "OF COURSE I DO!!! I freakin' love hockey, but I've never been on ice skates." They were fine with it...they were just looking for an extra body to get out on the ice. I was the 6th kid in the group so we could legit play 3 on 3. I came home from school that day and told my parents that I absolutely needed hockey skates and a stick.

If I wasn't playing on the pond with my new friends, I was practicing my skating on frozen puddles that were on a wooded property next to my house. I was skating on my own little 8X8 pond because I needed to get better and not fall on my ass with the boys. We'd typically play on the pond until it got dark. On cold days our sweat would freeze on our eye brows. On warmer days, we'd play in t-shirts. SO MUCH FUN!!!

Snow days were the best! After shoveling our driveways, we'd grab our gear, snow shovels, pack some food, and ride our bikes to the pond to start shoveling. When I look back, I can't believe that we'd all ride our ten speed bikes with all that stuff in 5-12 inches of fresh snow.

I think that's why I actually still like to shovel snow. Back in the day, shoveling snow was a means to a lot of fun.

Good post/question, Brady!
